2020 continues to be a time of unprecedented challenge at the intersection of mass crises that span a public health pandemic, modern day civil rights and racial reckoning movements, and a fragile global economy. ⚡️
We can say without hesitation that this is a period of immense pain and darkness. 🌘
However, as generations before us have collectively risen above the challenges, tragedies and crises of their times to pave a “new normal” for us, now is our time to rise. ✨
On this historic Election Day, the Global Shapers Atlanta Hub is calling upon our fellow Millennials and Gen Z-ers across the country to, as we say in Atlanta, RISE UP and use your power to vote and or engage in the civic process to shape the future of our country so that we can not only collectively survive, but also thrive. It has been such an honor to serve as the Equity and Inclusion Impact Lead for the Global Shapers Community - Atlanta Hub through this unprecedented time alongside some inspiring Atlanta-based leaders ⚡️
We as a hub recently attended a five-day virtual forum with 3,500 members of the Global Shapers Community that was designed to mobilize the collective action needed to realize a ‘Great Reset.' ⌛️
In that vein, the Equity and Inclusion Impact area is working globally to equip 100,000 people with the knowledge and skills to drive action on diversity, equity and inclusion specifically related to humanitarian assistance, gender equity, health equity, and social inclusion. It is so inspiring to be learning, growing and community building within our hub, city, and world at large with our brilliant Racial Equity Lead Courtni! ✨
Check out our hub's collated reflections, learnings and takeaways that we found most impactful for our communities from the vantage point of all the impact areas below! Grateful to be serving with this team, and we are just getting started yall! ✊🏾
